Cut a ringtone from an MP3 without uploading it

Most phones want a short clip. Upload-based cutters send the whole song to a server. LocalAudioCut keeps the bytes in your browser tab until you download the result and add it through your phone’s own settings.

Rights first

Only use audio you own or are licensed to use. This is not a YouTube ripper, stream grabber, or “paste a link” downloader. Circumventing DRM or distributing pirated music is not allowed — see our Terms.

Steps

  1. Open the cutter.
  2. Drop an MP3 (WAV/M4A also work in the MVP target list).
  3. Set start and end — often 15–40 seconds is enough for a ringtone. Use the waveform to avoid cutting mid-word.
  4. Cut on this device, then download the WAV or MP3.
  5. Transfer the file to your phone (cable, Files app, AirDrop, etc.) and set it via the OS ringtone / sounds settings. We do not convert every proprietary ringtone container in the MVP.

Limits

The cut re-encodes in the browser to 16-bit WAV, and to 128 kbps MP3 when that encode succeeds. WAV can be larger than the source MP3. Very long files may stress mobile browsers — prefer desktop, and files over 250 MB are refused. We do not export .m4r. M4A input may fail in browsers that cannot decode AAC (often Firefox).
